NYSARC Trust Services Awards Funds for Guardianship and Recreation Grants

Coarc has been awarded $46,500 in grants from the Trustee Management Board of NYSARC Trust Services to support our guardianship and recreation programs.

NYSARC Trust Services administers supplemental needs trusts (SNT) that can make dramatic improvements to the lives of people with disabilities while enabling individuals to maintain eligibility for public benefits programs, such as Medicaid and SSI. For 2017, NYSARC Trust Services is proud to fulfill its commitment to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities by awarding a total of $2,793,500 in grants to NYSARC Chapters statewide.

Coarc wishes to express gratitude to NYSARC, Inc. for providing funds for our Guardianship Program. Coarc provides guardianship for nine individuals with disabilities, and is also ready to assist three others, should their guardians pass away. The Coarc Guardianship Committee is made up of nine community volunteers, who advocate for persons with disabilities and make medical and other vital decisions on their behalf. The committee is always seeking new volunteers.

In addition, this year NYSARC, Inc. has provided $12,500 in Remainder Funds grants to support recreation programs.

Established in 1965 as the Columbia County Chapter of NYSARC, Inc. by families and community members, Coarc is a resource and advocate for individuals experiencing disabilities and their families. We support over 500 people with a comprehensive array of programs and services. Coarc staff are proud to fulfill the mission of expanding abilities, one person at a time, so individuals experiencing disabilities can achieve their individual goals.

NYSARC Trust Services has administered supplemental needs trusts since 1972, helping more than 16,000 people with disabilities protect their eligibility for government benefits and improve their quality of life. Our trust programs give people with disabilities the opportunity to remain in their communities with greater comfort and independence while providing peace of mind to their family and loved ones.

NYSARC Trust Services administers first- and third-party supplemental needs trusts, pooled trusts for income and resource (asset) protection, and individual trusts. When protecting settlement proceeds with a NYSARC Community Trust, we can also administer Medicare Set-Aside (MSA) accounts.
