Coarc Day Camp for Summer Fun
Children and teens with disabilities, ages 6 to 16 years, come to Coarc Camp Mahican for summer fun. To register, your child must live in Columbia, Dutchess, Greene or Ulster Counties, NY, have an Individual Education Plan (IEP), and be eligible for OPWDD funded services.
Our day camp operates out of a newly built pavilion in Copake, NY. We have a theme each summer such as Space Camp, Country Camp or Safety Camp. Campers socialize over board games, foosball, and air hockey. They create arts and crafts such as fuse beads, tie-dye, and projects related to the camp theme.
We have a large open field, basketball court, and playground. Campers play all types of sports such as soccer, basketball, and kick ball.
We have our own beach on Upper Rhoda Pond for water sports. Campers learn to swim with fresh water swim instruction.
Camp Mahican is open for 19 days in the month of July, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. We are closed on July 4th. Campers are supported by our Camp Mahican counselors, depending on their needs. A nurse is on-site for any medical needs that arise. Campers are transported to and from our camp by a local bus company.
