Expanding abilities one person at a time

The Starting Place in Hudson, New York offers preschool daycare to families with children ages 2.9 to 5 years. Our daycare services are paid by the family. The Starting Place is also the only full service special education preschool in Columbia County.

Your child can prepare for public school at The Starting Place (TSP). Our curriculum meets New York State preschool learning standards. Your child can work on goals set by you and learn to recognize letters, colors, and shapes. Your child can learn to play with other children and enjoy social interactions with our staff. In our integrated classrooms, daycare students learn with children with disabilities the same age.

TSP is licensed for 48 children, including those enrolled for daycare and special education. We have four classrooms, a nurse’s office, a room for occupational and physical therapy, a room for speech therapy, and one for social work. We have two outside playgrounds that are fenced for safety, with space to ride tricycles and scooters on the lower playground.

Our preschool daycare operates

Monday through Friday year round, 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, only closing on major holidays and in the event of treacherous weather situations, power outages or emergencies. Parents provide transportation for children who are enrolled in daycare.
